Kirtan is a fun, interactive, and devotional musical event. We repeat simple melodies in a lively call and response style supporting a divine connection with our heart and spirit. The Gentle class is designed for students interested in a slower, but equally effective practice. You will experience gently held postures and breathing techniques that calm the mind, relax the body, and improve joint health and flexibility. This is the class for times of high stress or low energy. It is great for beginners, seniors,  experienced students, or anyone seeking a gentle and meditative practice.

Chair Yoga 6 Week Series ~ Approachable for All Bodies

Tuesday, 12/26 ~ 4:45-5:45 pm

You’d love to take a yoga class, but getting up and down on a mat is a challenge, you have limited balance or mobility, your knees are tender, or you are recovering from an injury, come on over and pull up a chair!

Chair Yoga is an accessible form of yoga for any age group. In this class, we will use the chair as a prop to help modify the poses while maintaining all the benefits of yoga including: stress relief, increased energy, strength, muscle tone, balance, deepened breath capacity and overall health.

This class can also provide training for office workers to utilize at their desk, and is a great way to share a yoga class with a parent or grandparent. No previous yoga experience needed. Reserve your spot today!

Power Vinyasa 6 Week Series

A power practice intermingled with a therapeutic approach is utilized to mobilize stagnant energy within the body, open up energy channels and restore balance to the nervous system. This is done through consciously moving in and out of poses designed to strengthen the body and mind; coupled with the use of props for supported poses. The aim of the class is to both stimulate and balance the Yin and Yang energies of our nervous system.

Befriending Your Mind - Intro Meditation

Drawing from research in neuroscience on meditation's ability to positively change the brain, this course will provide tools to honestly and compassionately relate with your mind. These techniques that reshape the brain will help to steady your mind, reduce stress, notice the positive, and heal painful experiences which promote a life of balance, peace and joy.

In this meditation study course a book is chosen for each series. Participants are invited to engage in a reading assignment each week. The class will begin with an experiential practice including chanting, breath exercises and a silent sit. Then we will discuss the reading and share ideas, questions, inspirations, quotes from the book, etc. to deepen our practice.

Heart Centered Kirtan

Clear your mind and open your heart!

One of New England's newest devotional music groups, Heart Centered Kirtan is an eclectic collection of Pioneer Valley, MA folks dedicated to offering an accessible pathway into the mysteries of the heart. In their modern adaptation of the ancient practice of kirtan, they weave Sanskrit hymns, prayers and inspirational texts from ancient India into their own original blend of rock, folk, blues, and reggae.

The core of the band is Libby Volckening (harmonium/vox), James Robinson (guitar/vox) and Amanda Turk (percussion), joined by a rotation of seasoned local musicians. Heart Centered Kirtans are informal, accessible and inspirational. You don't need to be a great singer or know any Sanskrit to enjoy Kirtan.
